[0.5.6beta] Simple Magic Source Tree Farm with No Drops and No Lag

The wood output of this lumberyard is about 50 logs/s. By replacing it with a Detector Pulse and providing sufficient magic power, it can reach about 250/s.

Requires to build this device: 3*(Enchanted) Spell Turret, 1*Suspended Hourglass, 1*Sand, 1*Oak Drawer(2x2), 4*Copper Upgrade, 1*Any Supreme Wood Sapling, Unlocked Growth Talisman, Chopping Talisman, Pickup Talisman, Place Block Talisman, Range Talisman

Can use two observers with a sticky piston to replace the flying sand hourglass, to increase output to 250 logs/s

Enchanted arcane turrets can reduce mana consumption by half

Due to high output, pay attention to upgrading drawer capacity when needed or choose to use void upgrades to destroy overflow

In the early game, rubber saplings can be used, as the four drawers are just enough to hold them; For the high-yield supreme wood, it is recommended to use blaze supreme wood, which can provide materials for the perpetual daylight device

First, place a sapling

Place a spell turret on each side of the sapling, facing the sapling

Find the Spell Turret that is on the South or North side, and place a Drawer behind it.

The container interaction order for spell turrets is Up, Down, North, South, West, East. For example, if the hourglass is on the South side and the drawer is on the East side, placing the block amulet will prioritize interacting with the hourglass and pouring out sand, which is not what we want.

Use 4 copper upgrades for the drawer, lock the bottom right slot of the drawer as a seedling, place a spell turret facing upwards on the side of the drawer (it can face any direction, actually), place an hourglass between the three turrets, and put 1 sand in the hourglass.

Spell turrets interact with the frontmost slots first, with the bottom-right slot of the drawer being its first slot.

Set up Touch->Grow*9 for magic turret 1, Touch->Chop->Range*7->Place Block for magic turret 2, and Touch->Pick Up->Range*8 for magic turret 3.

If your magic source cannot keep up, you can appropriately reduce the number of growths or the number of areas. Alternatively, you can refer to my other simple magic source production guide.

After the setup is complete, turn on the magic source to start working. While working, as long as the drawer is not full, no physical drop items will be displayed.

Here is the DLC, suitable for players who need more wood.

Replace the hourglass with a device like this, which can make the tree farm run on a 4-tick cycle (five times per second), and can switch the tree farm on and off with a lever.

The magic source consumption is high, and the transmission rate of a single magic source relay is insufficient, so magic sources need to be produced directly next to the tree farm.

Revised on 2026/9/12:

The device shown in the figure can be used to create a 2-tick clock at a relatively low cost (5 redstone dust, 1 NOT gate).

Tests found that the trigger interval for spell turrets is the same for 4-tick and 2-tick clocks.

Very practical tutorial, easy to understand and build even for a friend who doesn't play tech packs much. However, I encountered a feng shui problem during relocation. When placing the magical adjacent to the hourglass and drawer, in a specific direction, the magical would prioritize placing sand from the hourglass, causing a crash after one run. The solution is to rotate the whole thing by ninety degrees, or use methods like Redstone P2P to prevent the magical from being adjacent to the hourglass.
